Three Dog Night Tempe Concert reviews
Kelly sings amazingly
The stage for Three Dog Night was a nice clean mix of silver metal and glass. After Parachute, the opening band, came off all they had to do was raise the BIG pink curtain and voila! The stage is all set. Thought our seats would be a bit closer to 116 B but forgot about the BB AA rows. Still just off to the right and a great view.
She opened with All I Ever Wanted and played about 15 songs from 9PM until 10:30. Kelly played Use Somebody by Kings of Leon and an old Patsy Cline number, but she really brought down the house with I Don't Hook up and a few other upbeat songs like Long Shot and My Life Would Suck. She didn't play one of my favorites, Don't Let Me Stop You, the number 4 track off the new CD. That's OK. Kelly is kind of like Taylor Swift, very sweet and modest as she told a few stories about the songs' origins. She joked before singing Since You've Been Gone that she wanted to see some straight guys singing it.
Patriot Center is a great venue with easy in and out access and minimal traffic. Much better than Nissan or Meriweather and certainly Fed Ex. It was my daughter's first REALLY close-up show, and she loved it. Great show!
